This is my second fountain pen, and I am very happy with it. I would have been thrilled to have received this as a gift, and I would have assumed that it cost more than I paid.Line weight:My first was a medium weight Manuscript from Hobby Lobby (about $16-$20 I think). I saw some reviews of this Parker pen saying that it has more of a medium tip than a fine tip; however, this pen can write much more finely than my Manuscript. Nevertheless, this Parker pen can create lines almost as bold as my medium Manuscript, given enough pressure. I like this variation in line weight (though I am not yet skilled at it).Ink:This is also the second ink I have ever tried. Overall, I prefer it to the ink that came with my Manuscript, but there are some draw backs. The Manuscript ink tended to bleed more on some paper (like that in my paper-bound moleskin, which are my favorite and on which this Parker writes beautifully), but it also dries marginally faster than this Parker ink. I do like the color of blue in this Parker ink, but once dried, it has a rather low contrast with the paper that I dislike. I plan on trying Parker's black ink to see if it has the same problem or not. One advantage to this low contrast, however, is that it visually signals the driness of the ink.Left-handedness:I am a lefty (over-writer), and this pen works very well for me. While the ink does dry a little slower than the Manuscript ink I have tried in the past, I have less smudging overall because I can write smaller. In fact, I have only smudged with this pen while testing to see if the ink has dried, never by accident while writing.Price:I am completely satisfied and very happy with what I paid for this pen. Being new to the fountain pen game (and being a lefty), I am hesitant to drop big money, but I am glad I bought this pen. Nevertheless, now a week after purchase, I see that the price has increased by about 40% of what I paid. I don't think Amazon likes reviews to mention specific dollar amounts, so I will have to leave it at this: I am thrilled with the price I paid, but I would not have gone out a limb for this purchase at the price it is currently listed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Overall a good pen, but not a good pen for those of finicky about a fine point
Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2018
    1. This is most definitely a Parker *fine* nib pen.
If you look at the Parker website they explain how you can turn their nibs upside down and find out exactly what the nib size is (see photograph).

    2. Unfortunately the Parker enclosures do not clearly state what pen this is, but it does in fact seem to be exactly as advertised.
It comes in a quality Parker box made out of good materials and with a one sheet explanation which generically talks about Parker high-quality pens. So what you buy here from Amazon is in fact their fine point nib pen, as advertised.

    3. This is a very badly miscast "fine point." if you really want a fine point by something else.
This is Parkers mistake not Amazon's or the sellers. In the second picture I show how Whitman's sample of various pens ready to hand and show that this "fine point" or fine nib pen is as medium as it gets.

    3. If you are new to fountain pens and/or not finicky about the size of the line this is probably a good pen. It probably has a good weight for larger hands and if you use a quality ink as I have done in this picture (Nibblers) you can get a good dense quality black line from your fountain pen. That will suit most people.

    4. if you know that you need a fine or even ultrafine point to feel precise and happy this is definitely not your pen.
Unfortunately those of us cursed with finer sensibilities, in my case as an engineer, or who have become accustomed to what a fine point really means, this pen is not so great.

    5. Good for you Parker! You allow us to swap nibs . Oh, except for this pen.
To my surprise I found out that Parker actually allows you to swap nibs. That would have worked if there was a finer nib then this one, which there is not. They only carry fine and medium nibs for this pen and there's not a lot of difference between the line size.

Bottom line, this is a return for me. And -1 star for how much time it took me to figure this out.
